MAGMA members received a warm welcome for their second field trip to Marion Kentucky in search of fluorite and associated minerals coordinated by the Ben E. Clement Mineral Museum. Approximately 40 members and friends joined in on the fun.

It seems our reputation may have preceded us.

Andrea lived up to our reputation at the Eureka Mine on day one.

Day one turned out beautiful despite some rough weather immediately preceding our trip. Rain had raised the creek, so working the creek banks and the hole was especially difficult. That didn’t prove to be too big an obstacle.

Bob and Bonny patiently work the Eureka Mine dumps.

Their efforts were well rewarded with a nice fluorite specimen.

Lizziebird located some nice specimens too.

Ed Clement treated us to a tour of the Ben E. Clement Mineral Museum. The specimens in his father’s collection are simply incredible as you can see from a sampling that follows. The story behind the collection is equally inspiring.
