Fieldtrip Report:

Lake Chatuge,
Clay County, N.C.,
January 28th, 2005,

John Deneys Birthday Dig!

____________________________

Hello all, although we had to cancel the amethyst trip for this weekend, we did manage to get out on Friday to help John D. celebrate his birthday, John, Robert Creason, Dave Hart and I headed to Lake Chatuge for a day of sapphire hunting, it was cold, very cold, the lake was at its lowest point which gave us another 25 feet of shoreline to explore, still not nearly low enough to access some of the better collecting locations, I guess those days are gone forever, or at least those sites, time to make new locations to hunt!

John looking for a likely spot to dig.

John on the hunt.

Robert doing some surface collecting.

Dave loading his screen.

Dave found the best material of the day, many nice rubies and sapphires, when he sends me some pics I will add them to this report.
