The MAGMA club had total control of the Reel Mine for four years, from 2009 - 2013. The mine had been closed for many years before we obtained a county permit to dig at the site. Through the efforts of the MAGMA club, the mine was reopened and once again made productive for collecting. It continues to be productive today due to our extensive machine work at the site. Currently, the site has been purchased and is being worked by a small group of amateur new rockhounds, because of MAGMA's previous work, these amateurs continue to find decent specimens.

Sadly, the site is now closed to rockhounds. Such a shame that a site that was a hot spot for seasoned, experienced rockhounds for many decades has been closed.
