Fieldtrip Report:
Walker Creek Kyanite,
Buncombe Co., N.C.
October 16th, 2005One thing about the MAGMA club is, we don't have to be pushed to hard to attend a fieldtrip, we didn't have anything planned for this weekend, but when we started talking about Walker Creek, we had a big group ready to go. We met Sunday morning and headed to the site, Rich, Robbie and Micheal were already there, we hiked up the mountain and proceeded to dig.
Gene
Gene found this nice 4-5" crystal in matrix.
Rich said his hole was the pits, but he stayed in it all day?!, I think he was holding out on us.
Our new MAGMA and Dirtyrockhounds member Scot joined us for the dig, he found a very gemmy piece for his first trip.
Scot's kyanite, this piece is about 1/4" thick, you can't tell from the pic, but you can see about half way through the piece.
