Field Trip Report:

Second Annual Western North Carolina Rockhound Roundup!
August 4-5-6-7, 2005

Finally the big day was here! Some of the members headed to the show in Spruce Pine Others spent the day at the Crabtree Mine hunting for emeralds. John D., Jim Ellis and I stayed at the house getting things ready for the afternoon events.

Back at base camp people started to roll in. Jack Bednarek and Rob Wendt set up the geode cracking cutter under one of the tents and were open for business. They sold a few geodes and had fun.

Drew and Crystal arrived and Dave Hart showed up with a truckload of goodies to give away. Everyone swarmed over his rock pile. It was very generous of Dave to give away so much nice material.
