Fieldtrip report:

Plant Fossils,
Pulaski Virginia,
September 26th, 2004

_______________

Hello all, this is the second part of our weekend report from Virginia. Our club member Drew led us on an excellent fieldtrip to Pulaski Va. to collect some very nice plant fossils in shale. This is a roadcut site in the middle of nowhere so there was not a lot of traffic, in fact, none at all for the first hour or so that we were there.

Foggy ride to Pulaski Sunday morning.

We still had most of the members from the previous days fieldtrip show up for the fossil trip.

Working the cut for fossils.

Here are a few pics of some of the fossils I found:

Positive and negative side of same plant.

Thanks to our members Roseanna and Ed, Jerry and Tena for providing lunch for everyone, they cooked up some nice Bratwurst, hotdogs, chips, cookies etc.

Jerry doing an ad for pepsi and hotdogs!

The fossil hunters!

This past weekend is what rockhounding is all about, good friends out having fun together doing what they all love, finding all the great specimens is a plus!!!

Until next time 8^)
