Fieldtrip Report:
Vulcan Quarry,
Pacolet, S.C.
July 15th, 2005
Another super-de-dooper fieldtrip today for our members as well as several other clubs who joined us, M.A.G.M.A. had invited the Henderson County, Tarheel, Gaston County, Charlotte, and Western S.C. Clubs to join us for a fieldtrip to Pacolet S.C. to collect a variety of minerals, I had never been to this site, but Doug Dover had visited with the Gaston County Club about a month before and they really enjoyed the trip. We do not do a whole lot of quarry trips here in the mountains, at least not as many as the clubs farther east, of all the active quarries I have visited, this was the most friendly we had been treated in my opinion.
21 members showed for the trip, a very good turnout considering the trip was on a Friday.
Quarry manager Richard giving a safety talk before we entered the site.
Anxious to get started.

Driving into the pit.
