Fieldtrip Report:

A Day in Oconee Ga.
November, 2005

A week or so ago, I was invited by Chet Karwoski to visit him at his home in Oconee Co. Ga. in Watkinsville, I had wanted to view his crystal collection for some time, so this particular Sunday looked good. I headed to Georgia early Sunday morning, on the way I stopped and picked Steve Barr who also wanted to view the collection. We arrived around 11:00 and met with Chet and his wife Gail, then Chet took us to the collection room, and what a collection!, many of the specimens on display are worthy of a museum display, Chet should charge admission to view his rocks.

Following are pictures of some of the many beautiful specimens we looked at:

Beryl, Jackson Co. Ga.

Barite, Emerson, Ga.

Rutile, Graves Mtn.

Lazulite Spheres, Graves Mtn.

Lazulite crystals, Graves Mtn.

Calcite, Pickens Co. Ga.
