I am a fifth grade teacher near Birmingham and have been a rock hound for several years, collecting mainly fossils, Alabama having a plethora of them. Most children love rocks and I have always enjoyed sharing my finds with my students, leaving many of them out all year long, as the children never seem to tire of looking at them.
Several months ago, however, I went to dig at the JXR amethyst mine near Washington, GA and just fell in love with the amethyst and clear quartz crystals I found there. After that, I found myself trying to figure out how many digging trips my bank account would stretch to and soon realized that I was well and truly addicted to digging for crystals!
Since then I have met many other wonderful enthusiasts who have helped me by giving me valuable information, showing me the ropes and encouraging me.
I am looking forward to joining the M.a.G.M.A. group on
many future trips accompanied sometimes by my daughters, Sarah (13) and AnnaLeah (12).Leah
