Lawrence Davis (hydrogeologist)
I have been a mineral collector my entire life but have only actively collected for the past 4 years. I worked at a non-profit environmental education center as a tour facilitator for visitors and new interns and discovered large masses of kyanite and almandine garnet in Buncombe County while leading groups on hiking paths up the creek. That's what got me started in active collecting, and have since visited many sites in WNC, GA, and across the U.S.
This love of rocks got me interested in the actual geology of the southeast, which in turn landed me a job as a hydrogeologist in the Baltimore/DC area. I start in mid-February and cannot wait to join clubs and research collecting sites in the Maryland and Virginia areas. Anybody got any leads? Lawrence
