Hello members, i'm finally getting around to a report of our great trip this past weekend. I had set this trip up for M.A.G.M.A. and the Henderson County Club, I had also invited the Gaston County and Charlotte Clubs to join us. We had a huge turnout and perfect weather for our two day dig. Many of us arrived on Friday night to be prepared for the Saturday events, the plan was to meet at the Weinman Museum in Cartersville when they opened at 10:00 a.m., I have been to this museum several times but many of our members had not, this is one of the best mineral museums in the area.

Weinman Museum

Around 30 members arrived that morning for the fieldtrip, this is the group waiting for the museum to open.

The first case I wanted the members to see was this one, it contains specimens from the Ladds Quarry (Mountain) site that we planned to visit that day.

Large Stalagmite collected at the Ladds Quarry, displayed at the Weinman Museum.

Many local rockhounds have their specimens on display in this museum, this piece was on loan from a member of a Georgia rockclub.

My Son RJ has not been on many trips with me lately, he has been majoring in girls and music for the last year, but when I told him we were going to Ladds Mountain for a fieldtrip he was ready to come along, this site has been a favorite of ours for over 6 years.
