Other displays and demonstrations included Kevin, who has been making his own bows and arrows his whole life.

Here are a couple of close-ups of Kevins’ work. He is pointing to his favorite bow made from Osage wood and backed with a Copperhead skin.

Someone asked to see Kevin shoot one of his bows. The bales of hay for the practice archery and atlatl area were about 100 yards away and he just turned around and dropped his arrow right into them with his first shot.

Steve, shown here knapping, also gave demonstrations on making arrows and cordage and what plants and materials were best for each.

Bryan makes spears and atlatls and is shown here attaching the feathers to one of his spears, or darts.

This comfortable looking artists name is Louis. He used to be a painter but now enjoys working in primitive art. And here is some of his work.

Any and everyone was welcome to try their hand at atlatl, knife, or hatchet throwing. And just about everyone did.

We may try and move the date for this event up one week next year as there are many other events planned for the first weekend of October that we don’t want to have to compete with. But rest assured we will let everyone know as far in advance as possible and we would love to see some more of you out there.
