Fieldtrip Report:

Hogg Mine
Troup County Ga.
November 1, 2008

Photos and text by: Pete Mailman

About 201 paying adults showed up for the dig.

There were 15 M.A.G.M.A. members that I knew , there could have been more, sorry if I missed anyone , but I was just a little excited after finding this BIG BERYL!

M.A.G.M.A. members had rocks and specimens for sale and Keith gave away a ton of free geodes.

Mark Jones

"Wild Bill" Mitcham

Pops and Jason

Don and Marie also had a booth selling specimens and equipment.

James Mailman and his family provided the food (REALLY A SPECIAL THANKS, HE LOOKED OUT FOR EVERYONE WITH HIS COOKING BUT I THINK WENT THAT EXTRA STEP FOR M.A.G.M.A. MEMBERS)

George (gsellis)-nose2ground (SORRY I MISSED WIFE AND DAUGHTER BUT LIKE HE SAID IN HIS POST "THEY WENT OFF BY THEMSELVES AND REALLY MADE OUT GREAT" His daughter moved a ton of dirt and had plenty to show for her efforts.)

MLB AND ANYONE ELSE I MIGHT HAVE MISSED, I REALLY AM SORRY. M.A.G.M.A. HAD A GREAT REPRESENTATION WITH THE OTHER CLUB MEMBERS AND AS FAR AS I COULD TELL, DID AS WELL IF NOT BETTER THAN MOST IN OUR FINDS. I was so intent on getting alot of pictures but after I found that big beryl I started giving away everything else I found and didn't take any specimen pictures, oh well, I am learning how to do a trip report maybe I will do better next time.
