Well we had an interesting weekend at the Hall Farm and the Stone Temple Mine in S.C., we had quite a turnout even with the threat of bad weather, one thing about this club, we have some dedicated, hardcore, (slightly crazy) members 8^). Some of us arrived Friday night and met at the Abbeville Grand Motel, we went to dinner at the Outback and had a blast, the next morning we met with about 30 other members at the Crawfords store in Antreville and headed to the site, up until then the weather had held off, of course as soon as we unloaded and started to hunt the rain started. Despite the rain, Rodney ran his backhoe the whole time, digging cross trenches through the property hoping to hit a vein of amethyst or at least see some signs of the purple stuff.

There is plenty of room for parking at the site which is great for large club digs.

Rodney ran the backhoe throughout the morning into the afternoon digging trenches in the field.

Just happy to be here 8^)

Some of us opted to hang out under the rain shelter while the others followed the machine through the field in the rain, I hung out with Bill Mitcham and a few others and watched it rain.

After about 2 hours of steady rain, it finally quit around 11:00 and cleared up to make for a nice afternoon of rockhunting, several members began to find loose amethyst crystals here and there in the dump piles.

Working the dirt piles.

Mark cleaning a specimen that Steve found.

Steve and his rock.
