These kids won the "dirty digger" award!

It was great to again see so many smaller kids and younger people at the dig enjoying the hobby. I think everyone was having a great time and I'm sure they will be back next fall.

Loretta, Darryl and Harold

Harold and Loretta Myers came by to checkout the dig. Loretta gave me a gift of something very rare from Graves Mountain, she had found this at a club dig about two or three years ago above the main pit. I showed it to Junior, Charlie and Greg Padgett and Junior had Glen Hay look at it as well. We all agreed that it is some sort of hematite crystal that formed somewhere on the mountain. There has only been one other crystal like this one found that we know of, and it is in Junior's collection. Thank you Loretta! it is the prize of my Graves collection.

Above pics of the hematite crystal that Loretta found.

This is the hematite crystal in Juniors collection, found at the mountain a few years back by a digger visiting the mine.

This is another nice piece I added to my collection. I bought it from Mark Sr. It is a piece he dug last year at the mountain.

This Graves Open House was one of the best I have been to! Thanks again to Junior Norman and his family and friends who make this event possible for all rockhounds. And thank you to the MAGMA members who showed up for the dig to help support Junior and the Open House to help make it such a successful event.

See you next fall!
