Fieldtrip Report:

Graves Mountain Open House
Lincolnton, Georgia
April 24th-27th, 2008

photos by: Rick Jacquot and Sandi Hill

Another successful Open House at Graves Mountain has come and gone. We had a great MAGMA turnout for this event. I counted at least fifty of our members throughout the weekend. Many of us camped at Elijah Clark park as usual. I also saw a few members of the Hendersonville NC club there as well. The turnout was again huge, about midday on Saturday, a barricade was setup as parking at the top was full. The cars lined down the mountain and onto the shoulder of Hwy. 378.

I had the MAGMA booth setup next to Junior, we had cold drinks for the members and a little shade from the sun.

Tim Barton from the Hendersonville club.

Junior's booth had a display of some fantastic rutile specimens as well as a lot of specimens for sale. He also had the two "wheel's of fortune" for people to choose nice rutile and iridescent specimens from 5-20 dollars.

Heading up the mountain for a day of collecting.

There were a lot of new vendors setup this year, the old favorites like Charlie and Greg Padgett and new folks like Marvin and Eddie Ruck.

Catching a ride up the mountain.
