The semi-annual Open House at Graves Mountain started early for the M.A.G.M.A. club. I arrived Wednesday evening at the Elijah Clark park to find Ken already setup. I setup my camp and awaited the arrival of some of the other members.

Soon, Richard Holmes joined us for the evening.

I was up and over to the mountain bright and early Thursday morning to setup my sales booth. I was suprised to find many MAGMA members already there waiting to get in. Junior arrived around 8:30 and we headed up to the mine.

Junior gave us a golfcart to use to get around the mine. After I finished setting up, Lee and I went for a tour. We picked up a couple of other members and went to see what was being found.

Heading to the upper pit.

The first diggers we encountered were our MAGMA members Jason and Jon. I think they won the "dirtydigger" award early this trip.

Jason and Jon were working a hole they had worked last year, and it was paying off. Jon pulled out this monster quartz crystal covered with bright iridescent coating.

What makes this crystal so cool is the super thick coating of iridescent on the point. It has size, great color and some very unusual stalactitic growths around the point and sides. This may be the best specimen of iridescent quartz I have seen from the mine.

Ron and Richard.
