Fieldtrip Report:
Graves Mountain
Lincolnton, Georgia
February 9th and 10th, 2007The pic below shows the old quartz cave, this area has become very unstable. The surrounding rock has collapsed, huge boulders are now dropping from the wall above the cave. Junior has asked that everyone stay clear of this area. Notice the light gray/blue colored rocks around the entrance, these are fresh fallen boulders!

While collecting, MAGMA once again showed off its sharing spirit among the members, Ken had hit a vein of nice iridescent coated quartz crystals, he retreived a nice plate, and then offered the hole to me. I worked it and found a nice crystal I liked and several plates that I gave away. Then I turned the hole over to Walter (Junior), who found some nice material, he then gave the hole to Ernie, who gave it to Mark, who gave it to Romin, etc., sharing is what this club is all about!

My favorite piece from the quartz hole, this big iridescent coated crystal point.

The bottom of the above specimen, it shows layers like the crystal was compressed?
