Day 4 Second Annual Labor Day Week-End Gem Jam
Hogg Mine, Troup County Georgia

We had ten M.A.G.M.A. members, ten non-M.A.G.M.A. members and five children in attendance. The day started out with a light drizzle just enough to keep the temp. down and to expose a lot of Beryl and Rose Quartz.

Wild Bill Mitcham gave the opening dig safety speech.

Pete Mailman had a Beryl display with about 30 Beryl specimens from around the world.

And a cab and cut stone display along with what is left of a 35 year old gold nugget collection.

Romin brought along some of his silver jewelry, self designed and hand made, very nice and unique.

A "DIRTY DIGGER AWARD" was given to Kiran Shenoy.

Not to be out done by a young Rock-Hound upstart, Romin got the "ADULT" DIRTY DIGGER AWARD.

Jason Barrett and Hodgehound.

Having a blast!

"BEST FIND" awarded to Hodgehound, great Beryl crystal with Aqua center.

Also a special "THANK-YOU " to Mr Barrett (Amethystguy Sr.) what a funny guy and very helpful to everyone. Pete cooked Hot Dogs and chili, chicken wings and plenty of Watermelon.

A great time was had by everyone, can't wait for 3rd. Annual Labor Day Week-End Gem Jam 2009!

I think someone said it once but it bears repeating,

"M.A.G.M.A. ROCKS"
