Fieldtrip Report:

M.A.G.M.A Annual Fluorescent Dig,
Ray Mica Mine,
Yancey Co., N.C.
and
Spruce Pine, N.C.
November 11th, 12th, 2005

We caravaned to the site where we planned to collect, it was still daylight when we arrived so we waited a while for it to get dark, it appeared that the area we were collecting had not be searched for hyalite at all.

Waiting for the night.

Everyone loaded their buckets with tons of smaller pieces of hyalite opal, it was very plentiful, there were also several huge rocks covered with hyalite, to big to carry away, so I took pics:

Notice Dylans hand in the pic.

Fluorescent feldspar

After about an hour and a half, we had loaded up a bunch of material and headed back to camp and my house for another boring evening quietly sitting around, lol.

Sunday morning, no sleep for Dylan.

I came down for coffee and caught these three in a plot to haul off part of my rock room!, (John D. was the ring leader)

As always another fun rockin weekend with the members of M.A.G.M.A., it don't get any better than this!

See you on the next one......
