A few days went by when I got a call from John Deney, he had been to the mine the following weekend with a group of students from Clemson, he said they had found more of the nice smokies, I decided that I needed to get back and try my luck and see if I could come out with something as nice as what i'd seen collected by my other members and Chet and his group. I set up a two day dig during the week, a Tuesday and Wednesday, Dave Smith and I decided to dig together and see what could be found. All I can say is what was found made us both very happy! Dave and I took turns in the pit, it was hard work but well worth the effort.

Dave in the pit.

One of the first crystal clusters found Tuesday morning, waiting to be removed.

The hole we worked to recover our finds Tuesday.

More holes in the pit worked by other club members.

Some of our finds Tuesday.

The largest plate we recovered Tuesday and also the second piece we removed from the hole that morning, the piece came out in three sections, Dave is going to clean and reconstruct the specimen and maybe have it displayed in a local museum.
