Fieldtrip Report:

Diamond Hill Mine
Antreville, S.C.
November 23-25, 2007

photos by: Ernie Wooten and Rick Jacquot

Time for another fun report from the ever popular Diamond Hill Mine in S.C. I usually have a large report from this site, but this one will only be three pages long. I decided to do some serious digging on this trip instead of the social picture taking thing. Thanks to Ernie for sending me some extra photos for the report.

I arrived Thursday afternoon and setup camp, I was joined soon after by several other members who also wanted to get an early start on Friday. I teamed up with Travis and Ron to work the skeletal pit, I was told by a little bird where to dig! (actually, it was a big hairy bearded bird who smokes and swears alot). We started off early Friday morning, and within a couple of hours, we were down to the area we wanted to work, not long after we started pulling out some nice sleletal material...

At night, we would cover our working area with a tarp, it helps to mark our spot and keep claim jumpers out!

While our team was working the skeletal pit, other members were scouring the smoky and what was left of the amethyst pit.

Hauling a big yard rock!

Linda working the smoky pit.

Nancy having fun as always.

New dump material to be searched.

Cathy working the smoky pit.

More work in the smoky pit.
