Fieldtrip Report:

Crabtree Emerald Mine
Grand Re-Opening!
July 15th and 16th, 2006

photos by: Lee Fleming, Jim Ellis, Rick Jacquot

It was amazing how much gold/yellow/green beryl was found, the beryl was not the green that comes from places like the Ray Mine, but a lighter shade which makes it unique to the Crabtree. Thomas Davis brought his recent find from the Ray to share with the club:

This terminated beryl in matrix from the Ray is probably the finest specimen to come from that mine in over 10 years.

Several members brought beryl to me to photograph, but Grant Kidd brought in what I thought was the best piece, a huge gold beryl in matrix:

Eli having a blast!

Gene Jeffers

Gene found a cool piece of purple fluorite while searching the dumps.

Of course at every M.A.G.M.A. dig, we have our share of critters, either brought by members or stopping by to see what we're doing.

Andrea's dog, Zowie Davis.

Crabtree Groupies!
